Abstract

Pulai (Alstonia sp.), cinnamon (Cinnamomum sp.), pakanangi or kisereh (Cinnamomum parthenoxylon or Cinnamomum porrectum), kulilawang (Cinnamomum halmaherae), agarwood (Aquilaria sp., Gyrinops versteeghii and Gyrinopsis cumingiana), and pasak bumi (Eurycoma longifolia) are medicinal plant species that naturally grow in plantation or forest areas. Their exploitation has caused their abundance to decrease significantly, thus required such a policy to protect the species. The herbal medicine producers that harvest the naturally growing plants as raw material for their products are obliged to build seedling and enrichment areas. This paper informs a field review of the medicinal plant species of several regions from 2005 up to 2009.
