Abstract
Identification and measurement of the relative expression of mRNA Growth Hormone (GH) and Insulin-like Growth Factor-I (IGF-I) have been carried out on 15 individuals of Rasbora lateristriata Blkr. The mRNA of brain, liver and muscle tissue from juvenile, male, and female adult fish have been used to determine the relative expression levels of mRNA GH and IGF-I. Conventional PCR and qRT-PCR were performed to obtain partial sequences and relative expression of mRNA GH and IGF-I. The results of this study were partial sequences of mRNA GH along 417 bases and 366 bases for IGF-I which have 80-90% similarities with other species in the Cyprinidae available in GenBank. The relative expression of mRNA GH and IGF-I showed no difference between brain and liver organs, as well as among juvenile, adult male, and female fish. In conclusion, partial sequences of mRNA GH and IGF-I in Rasbora were found, and their expression was relatively similar between liver and brain organs and among juvenile, adult male and female fish.
