Goniothalamus macrophyllus (Blume) Hook.f. & Thomson (G. macrophyllus) is a potential medicinal plant growing in lowland forest. Thus, it is essential to determine their habitat preferences and to correlate their density to environmental characteristics where they grow. The study was carried out in the lowland forest of Kuningan District, West Java using purposive sampling design with a plotted line method. Correlation between environmental characteristics dan G. macrophyllus density was analyzed with multiple linear regression. The plants were observed at stages of seedlings, saplings, and poles, at an altitude of 432–1 273 masl. The fields temperature was 19–25^oC, humidity of 80–90%, and soil pH of 4.61–6.46. Environmental properties correlated to seedling density  was N total (t = 4.280; p = 0.01) and pH (t = 3.138; p = 0.07), while those correlated to pole density was clay structure (t = 2.578; p = 0.021).
